Melbourne Graduate School of Education Current Students

Tutorial Allocations

Go to ALLOC8

All students enrolled in Melbourne Graduate School of Education undergraduate and preservice courses (except Vocational Education and Training) will have all their tutorials and lectures automatically allocated by the ALLOC8 system.

How does it work?

ALLOC8 primarily allocates classes based on a best-fit model taking into consideration student’s lectures and tutorials. It will provide you with a clash free timetable (unless this is impossible) that you can amend if there are available alternatives.

Frequently asked questions?

How do I know where the lecture or tutorial will be held?
You can find out where a class is held through the Student Information System (http://sis.unimelb.edu.au). There will be no class lists available on Faculty notice boards in Semester 2, 2009.

How do I make changes to my timetable?
Once you have viewed your timetable you can make changes to it by following the instructions given on the ALLOC8 website  (as a basic overview all you need to do is click on the class that you want to move out of and then click on the one you want to move to).

Changes will only occur if there is space in time you have selected, therefore if unsuccessful you will need to choose another time slot or make other arrangements.
If you are unable to make a change on the ALLOC8 system and you have a valid reason for requesting the change you should submit a Tutorial Allocation Change Request Form, available on the web at http://www.edfac.unimelb.edu.au/currentstudents/resources/Alloc8/Tutorial_Form.html
A valid reason is either :

We will do our best to make the necessary change, however even with a valid reason a change may not be possible. Work commitments, travel, inconvenience or preference for a particular class are not valid reasons and changes requested for these reasons will not be processed. Final requests for changes are due no later than 5.00 pm the day before the system closes.

What if I change my subjects after ALLOC8 is opened?
All undergraduate and preservice Education subjects you are enrolled in on the 1 July will appear on your timetable available as above.  If you change your subjects after this date you will have to go back into ALLOC8 and check your updated timetable (ALLOC8 will be updated with your subjects every hour or so).  If you wish to change your subjects you must either put your request in writing to the Education Student Centre or via the SIS website at http://sis.unimelb.edu.au (when available).

What do I do if I have problems with my timetable?
If you are unable to see your timetable or have other problems not related to changing classes, please contact School staff by email at:
